The Broadmoor Art Experiencehas grown exponentially since its inception eight years ago. This year’s event, which takes place every weekend in July, will feature nearly 100 top-tier Western artists creating up to 200 works on site, and available for purchase right off the easel. Presented by Broadmoor Galleries and staged on the grounds of the historic Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the month-long event boasts the participation of artists such as Thomas Blackshear II, Darcie Peet, Sarah Woods, Brandon Bailey, Mikel Donahue, Jane Hunt, Ezra Tucker, Margery Torrey, Kathleen Hudson, Dustin Van Wechel, J.R. Hess and many others.

Leon Loughridge paints the scenic grounds of the Broadmoor at a previous Broadmoor Art Experience.
A diverse range of artwork will be represented—a variety of painting media, stone carving, metalwork, clay sculpture, spray paint, woodblock prints and works on paper—with subject matter and styles spanning from traditional to contemporary.
Broadmoor Galleries director Krista Steed-Reyes explains, “This event is designed to highlight each artist’s specialized strengths rather than conforming to a plein air format, ensuring that every artist showcases what they do best. This year, we’re excited to feature both emerging talents and seasoned professionals, offering visitors the chance to discover fresh voices in the art world or invest in renowned artists. With prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, there’s something for every collector—whether you’re starting your collection or adding a distinctive new piece.”

Darcie Peet has been participating in the Broadmoor Art Experience since its inception eight years ago.
Brandon Bailey has been participating in the Broadmoor Art Experience for several years and is excited to return for the 2025 event. “It’s always a rewarding experience—not just for sharing my work, but for the meaningful connections it fosters,” he says. “I truly enjoy meeting new people who may be discovering my art for the first time, as well as reconnecting with longtime collectors. It’s a unique chance for attendees to see how our pieces come to life, and I think that adds a whole new layer of appreciation and connection.”

Artist Brandon Bailey will return to participate in the Broadmoor Art Experience for his fourth year.
The Broadmoor Art Experience holds special significance for Darcie Peet for several reasons. Not only has she been participating in the event since its first year, she went to college in Colorado Springs, and has fond memories of times spent at the Broadmoor. “For me, it is almost like coming home to participate each year,” she shares. “A unique event makes for plenty of interesting conversation with their guests from all over the world who truly love watching paintings evolve throughout the day as they walk around the lake.”
Peet spends summers in the mountains of Colorado, and its dramatic beauty often ends up on her canvases. She recalls how a man at last year’s Broadmoor Art Experiencerecognized a location in Vail, Colorado, she was in the process of painting, that he had hiked to 20 years prior. “My painting sold before I was finished, and he has a forever memory of that singular accomplishment,” Peet says. “That is not the only time a painting has sold before the final brushstrokes. It is the people connections and sharing stories that make this event so rewarding.”

Thomas Blackshear II is one of 100 artists who will create work over Broadmoor Galleries’ month-long Broadmoor Art Experience.
The Broadmoor Art Experience runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays beginning July 5 and for the next three consecutive weekends, with a different group of 20 artists in attendance each weekend. For full details visit the Broadmoor Galleries website. —
